We have not been asked for this information when we have stayed in other Self Catering Accommodation so do we have to provide it on this occasion?

Yes, in the UK, self-catering accommodation is legally required to keep details of guests, as stipulated by the Immigration (Hotel Records) Order 1972.

Here are the key requirements:

  • What details to collect:

    • All guests over the age of 16 must provide their full name and nationality.

    • Foreign nationals (who are not British, Irish, or Commonwealth citizens) must also provide the number and place of issue of their passport (or other identity document) and, on departure, their next destination (if known).

  • How long to keep the records:

    • You must keep these records for at least 12 months.
